Listen out for The Wyatt Family's new mixtape coming to Napster soon |
- WWE are signing a bunch of people! Gulak is reported to have reached an agreement and is rounding off his independent dates, and Mickie James is said to have signed a multi-year deal! On top of this, the company have also signed Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace, Nixon Newell and Evie. Fucking hell lads are you building an army?
- Title changes for SmackDown! Alexa Bliss is your new Women's Champion, and The Wyatt Family are the new Tag Team Champions!
- The Wyatt Family are confirmed to be defending their newly won tag titles under the Freebird Rule, same as New Day. C'mon WWE, gimme dat sweet Luke Harper/Randy Orton team sometime soon.
- Looks like Cena might be around in WWE for less than half of next year, with him having a ton of other projects and what have you. It's a shame really, though Cena's presence can be overbearing at times, he's put on some awesome matches in the past couple years.
- The new Tekken game will have New Japan Pro Wrestling content! What a cool crossover! So far, we've only had some Okada content revealed, but I'm excited to see what else will come. Here's hoping for some Kenny Omega goodies!
WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs
Best Match on TLC: AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose - WWE World Championship Match - Tables, Ladders & Chairs
It's another WWE Pay-Per-View this week, Jesus these are coming fast and loose since the brand split eh? We've still got Roadblock before year's end. Anywho, we've got the SmackDown! exclusive of TLC and the best match on this card was the titular stipulation applied the WWE Championship match between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose.
Things got heavy handed pretty damn quickly. The action soon spilled to the outside and up the ramp, using the weapons lovingly placed along the way, then bringing us back round through the crowd.
Had some super cool weapon spots, like Ambrose turning Styles inside out, upside down and through a mesh of chairs;
I think it was this spot that caused the tear in AJ's tights right on the asscheek, which you too will have the satisfaction of seeing in this next clip. Though it was fairly Ambrose heavy on the offense in the early goings, AJ sure got his licks in. We had a Stylin' DDT off the apron which was amazing, God I love that move. However, possibly the highlight of this match was this right here;
Fucking awesome. Some great stuff all over in this match. When it came to the ladder play in going for the title, they did a good job at keeping it tense. As a Styles fan, I was nervous as hell when Ambrose appeared to have a clear path and was praying that AJ would move faster when he had a go himself.
The closing moments looked poised to have a new champion crowned, turning me more than a little sour. However, my hopes were brought back up when the betrayal of the century occurred.
Ellsworth screwed 'im! BAH GAWD!
Overall, I thought this was an awesome match, lots of excitement, some great spots and some balls to wall heart from both these guys, AJ having suffered some sort of ankle injury somewhere in the midst of all the chaos. What a guy.
Monday Night RAW
Best Match on RAW (5/12/16): Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn
They're back at it again, its Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn! As always, these guys have great matches together, and this was no exception. Quite a spot-heavy match-up this, with both taking it over the ropes, Sami doing like 4 tornado DDT variations, including his torpedo one and his rope climbing one. Cool shit.
My favourite moment was when Sami went full murder mode and slammed the bejeezus-ing shits out of Big Kev.
Sami was on a goddamn role in this match, opposed what we've seen the last couple times these guys faced off with him spending most of the match getting brutalised.
I loved the ending of this one, a quick snap and a pin out of the deepest of blues. Plus, Owens's exhausted cover was super cool. Just something I've noticed just now, I think I cut this clip a tad too short, so FYI, Owens does get the 3-count.
Nice match here on RAW, I would've preferred it to have gone on later in the show rather than the first hour, but hey ho, I ain't a booker.
SmackDown! LIVE
Best Match on SD! (6/12/16): The Miz vs Dean Ambrose - WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Back in
Nothing too spectacular in my opinion, but it was a solid match. If you like Dean or if you like Miz, I should think you'll probably like this match. I'm not a massive fan of these guys in-ring, but hey, it was enjoyable.
Had some interference from both Maryse and Ellsworth in the closing moments allowing for a Miz title retention. I can't remember much of this at all, so apologies for that dear readers.
205 Live
Best Match on 205 (6/12/16): Rich Swann vs Brian Kendrick - WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
It's the second ever episode of 205 Live, and it was better than last week, let's see if this trend continues (I hope so). We've got a rematch from last week's championship match, pitting Rich Swann against Brian Kendrick once again. TJ Perkins came out and was on commentary for this, and would be key later on.
Lots of Brian dominance again, and it seemed to me that he had Swann in The Captain's Hook submission a lot more than last week, just fucking ages. Now, I like it when you get repetition of finishers and when they're kept locked for a while, but the problem here is that with Swann's head hooked as it is, it doesn't leave a lot of room for some real good selling. Like, if you're in a Walls of Jericho or a Figure-Four-Leglock, you can scramble and throw your arms about, you can do a lot with facial expressions, but due to the compacting of the head in the move, it really limits what you can do.
We had a Sliced Bread off the apron and to the outside that was nasty looking, but also really cool. Swann was on his usual entertaining spree in this one, slick, quick technical work and the throwing in off his agility and high flying offence.
The ending came about with a altercation with TJ at ringside, people were distracted, things got heated, Swann ends up catching Brian with the Rich Kick and getting the victory. Nice match here, and hopefully we keep getting some quality stuff on 205, and hopefully WWE doesn't fuck it up.
NXT
Best Match on NXT (7/12/16): Samoa Joe vs Shinsuke Nakamura - NXT Championship Match
It's their clash at Osaka, Samoa Joe defends his NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
Whilst it was still good, bit of a step down from their previous encounters. Felt like I was seeing a lot of the same stuff, and I dunno whether already knowing the outcome was detrimental to my enjoyment.
I'm not a fan of how the title has been booked lately, giving it to Nak, then back to Joe, then back to Nak, I felt the title was above this type of thing. I'm not against the idea of short reigns, take Sami's reign for example, it worked with the storyline and gave Owens some mad heat. This exchange of the belt just felt pointless to me. Especially considering how these two are now the first to have been two-time NXT Champions. I was excited that the idea of the two time champs would be a big deal and be included in the storyline, but here, not at all really. Tad disappointed in that respect.
Anyways, yeah, Nakamura's champion. Their previous matches will definitely be better remembered than this one. Sorry I sound so bitter.
Ring of Honour
Best Match on ROH TV (Episode 272): The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin), Lio Rush & Jay White vs The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe), Silas Young & Jay Lethal
I had a fucking whale of a time watching this. We at the 'Noah's Best Wrestling of the Week' household just got a SmartTV, and I managed to link my Fite TV app to it, so I got to watch ROH in the highest quality I ever have, fucking awesome.
It was the main event this week that was the crown jewel of this episode; Motor City Machine Guns, Lio Rush and Jay White taking on The Briscoes, Silas Young and Jay Lethal.
Lots of quick action in this match, always had something going on. A nice sequence between Lethal and Rush focusing on who would land a suicide dive, both countering and countering until Rush landed an eventual tope con hilo. Silas fucked some shit up, and he was a welcome presence, being the only real heel in this thing, needed someone to dirty it up. MCMGs added their lovely dose of tag team coolness, and all 4 even worked together for some quadruple teams.
I thought this match was great. Entertaining throughout, hardly had any low points, none that I can remember anyway. As always, your sorry ass can catch ROH TV for FREE at www.rohwrestling.com/tv/current or on the Fite TV app.
Lucha Underground
Best Match on LU (S3E14): Marty 'The Moth' Martinez vs El Dragon Azteca Jr. vs The Mack vs Mil Muertes
We're going underground now, and this week we have the start of the 'Battle of the Bulls' tournament to decide the next No.1 Contender for the Lucha Underground Championship. In this match, we've got a Fatal-Four-Way between Marty 'The Moth' Martinez, El Dragon Azteca Jr., The Mack and Mil Muertes.
Just like the match above, a whole host of cooooooool shiiiiiiiiiiit. The Mack got a real good showing in this match, which I was really glad about because I haven't had much chance to see him properly, and goddamn he was awesome, landing a misdirection Stunner that made me pop big.
Azteca Jr. was also made to look like a star in this one, getting some major hits on Mil Muertes, the biggest baddest fucker around, and damn near won the whole thing before Mataza popped up and gave him a hefty dose of disabling pain.
Real nice match here, definitely one to check out this week, plus this episode also had another tournament match of Cage vs Joey Ryan vs Texano vs Dr. Wagner Jr that was also sick.
The Verdict
Best Match of the Week: AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose - WWE World Championship Match - Tables, Ladders & Chairs
This was great, hands down. Some big money spots and big money effort from Dean and AJ to add some fuel to the fire that was an okay/decent PPV. These guys deserved the stipulation and put it to good use. Everything you could want out of a TLC match that doesn't include a Dudley, a Hardy or a blond Canadian.
And with those added to record books, the leaderboard now looks like this - AJ's now in the 30 point club (woop woop)! Also, I haven't neglected it yet, its time for 'The Best Wrestling Quote of the Week'!
'This little bitch now runs the whole SmackDown! Women's division' - Alexa Bliss
With that, it looks like I don't have much else to tell ya, guys, except I hope that the next 7 days are filled with love, joy, hugs, smiles, biscuits, sunshine and bubbling Christmas spirit. Catch ya next time!
