Hello one and all! Come sit, kick off those shoes, rest your feetsies in your slippers and have a read through this edition of 'Noah's Best Wrestling of the Week', AKA 'JOE! JOE! JOE! JOE!'
Just take a quick moment to acknowledge the passing of Chyna, a pioneer of women's wrestling. Only female Intercontinental Champion, first female Royal Rumble entrant, Hall of Fame worthy, I hope we'll see her there one day. 46 is far too young.
Oh, on my blog stats it says I've been getting some readers in Ireland and the United States, plus in Norway.

"Hey international fans, how ya doin'?" |
And now for the news in your area, your area being pro wrestling:
- At an NXT live event in Lowell, Massachusetts, Samoa Joe pinned Finn Balor to become NXT Champion. As fucking insane as this is; SAMOA JOE IS YOUR NEW NXT CHAMPION
- The PROGRESS and EVOLVE qualifiers for the Global Cruiserweight Tournament have been announced! The EVOLVE show on May 7th in Queens, New York will see their tag team champions face off with Drew Gulak vs Tracy Williams and Fred Yehi vs TJ Perkins. On the PROGRESS side, the qualifiers will take place April 24th in Camden Town, London, with the matches being Zack Sabre Jr vs Flash Morgan Webster and Jack Gallagher vs Pete Dunne.
ITS GETTING CLOSER PEOPLE - The Mighty Don't Kneel (TMDK), Michael Nicholls and Shane Veryzer, have now signed with WWE and will appear in NXT. Spicing up the tag division! The two Aussies made their name in Pro Wrestling NOAH - undeniably the coolest wrestling promotion name ever - and they've done a nice little interview on WWE.com
- The maker of the old Fire Pro Wrestling games has started a petition to gauge interest in a potential sequel for pretty much all consoles. Basically, the Fire Pro games are like PES, they don't have the licenses for names so names are skewed a bit and the gameplay is more intricate. Plus, they include wrestlers from all over the world, with previous games having 300+ on the roster.
With this, ICW and Chikara having games in the making too I'm excited for these wrestling game alternatives. - It appears that Chris Hero is finishing up his dates with EVOLVE and will be coming back to Ring of Honour, at a full time schedule, a la Colt Cabana. Can't wait, mate. Hero is one of my favourites in the game today so hearing this made me a very happy chappy
Here comes the...here comes the BOOM MATCHES:
Monday Night RAW
Best Match on Monday Night RAW (18/4/16): Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose
Finally Ambrose has appeared on this blog and its thanks to Kevin Owens. RAW was in London this week and the crowd had died quite a bit down by the end, but these guys did manage to perk them up a bit. Mind you Jericho CodeBreaker-ing Ambrose at the end sucked all the life out of the room. Some nice spots in this one, like Kev's Frog Splash off the apron, which livened the crowd into a 'Fight Owens Fight' chant. Owens over the past couple of weeks has deemed himself the 'Headlock Master', a step up from 'Chinlock City' if you ask me.
Thursday Night SmackDown!
Best Match on SD! (21/4/16): Sami Zayn & Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens
Classic SmackDown! booking here; are two pairs of people in a rivalry? Singles matches on RAW? TAG TEAM MATCH. Before the match we had an interview where Sami and Dean disputed their team name, and there was some really cool ones, like ones you make in Universe Mode on the 2k games: Sambrose, Ska Madness (my favourite) but Dean wanted 'Rough Riders' which Sami thought was too suggestive and sexual - he said this soon following a match with Fandango, Goldust and R-Truth that was 75% gyrating. Sami should form a new Right To Censor.
Anywho, there was match, it was fairly standard as tag matches go but was still good. Switching momentum back and forth on who was being fucked over by the opposition team. Nothing too special to see, most of the usual stuff from these guys. The finish of the match was Dean being pushed off the top turnbuckle bollocks-first onto the ropes, with such force that he was pinned. His poor ballies.
However, my favourite part of this whole thing was the masterclass of post match bragging by JeriKO
NXT
Best Match on NXT (20/4/16): Samoa Joe vs Apollo Crews
We're still at Axxess here but seemed to be louder than last week which is nice. We also saw the debut of No Way Jose who is a very strange man. However, the match that stole the show was 'Smo Jo' vs Crews. What do we get from Joe? The usual and awesome beating the fuckety fuck out of the man standing opposite. He beat him up some at the start, Apollo got some momentum back his way, then Joe put on his gardening gloves, got an old T-shirt he didn't mind getting dirty, found his little trowel, found a nice spot in the soil and planted Apollo in the fucking ground. He had the same look of euphoria Bubba Ray Dudley gets when he powerbombs women through tables. I love Joe in NXT, it's great.
Ring Of Honour TV
Best Match on ROH TV (16/4/16): Roderick Strong vs Tomohiro Ishii - Ring Of Honour Television Championship Match
The next few weeks on ROH TV are matches taped from the 'Honour Rising' event at Karouken Hall (where New Japan and other companies tape a lot) back in February, I think. This is the match where Roddy lost the title which has since been seen only once at the 14th Anniversary in March for ROH. Not my favourite booking choices but I'm hoping he loses it at the upcoming Global Wars or War of the Worlds shows. Now, I'm not much of a fan of Ishii, he pretty much sums up all my disputes with some Japanese heavyweight wrestling; 'Are you smaller than me? Your strikes do significantly less damage than mine' + slow + not much selling. Even so, having Roddy was a saving grace. He brought the speed and agility this match needed. It was a lot of chops and forearms, but it was still pretty good. I'm looking forward to next week's episode, I think we get The Elite (Omega and the Bucks) and I love them. Speaking of The Young Bucks...
ROH: Supercard of Honour X Night Two
Best Match on ROH: SCOHX Night Two: The Addiction vs The Motor City Machine Guns vs The Briscoes vs The Young Bucks
I think ROH has the best tag division in wrestling, although I'm not a big fan of the champions - War Machine. I love these 4 corner matches, lots of involvement from everyone, quick action, multi-man spots, the works! Lovely stuff all round here, Briscoe's beating the piss outta guys, MCMG running round doing cool shit, Young Bucks making everyone happy and The Addiction being right dicks. I thought I'd add a new feature to the blog, every Young Bucks match that appears on here will now show a 'Superkick Count'. Without further ado...
SUPERKICK COUNT: 20 (Fuck that's a lot)
The Verdict
Best Match of the Week: The Addiction vs The Motor City Machine Guns vs The Briscoes vs The Young Bucks - ROH: Supercard of Honour X Night Two
As I said, lots of constant, engaging and awesome action here. Never a dull moment. Seek it out if you can, but overall I enjoyed the first night of SCOHX much more with that phenomenal Lethal/Rush title match. Here's what the Leaderboard looks like now
Other Goodies
Botchamania 304 and 305
In honour of Hero's imminent ROH return and that CM Punk gif at the start, here is the rare Punk & Rollins vs Cesaro & Hero (Kassius Ohno here) from a 2012 episode of NXT
