Oh, also, I have no fucking clue what's going on with these font sizes, it says their the same but one's itty bitty and the other is the size I want, I selected this one to be bigger, so we'll just stick with this one.
The best news of the week looks a little something like this;
- William Regal has confirmed that qualifying matches for the Global Cruiserweight Tournament will take place at future Evolve shows. A) This collaboration with Evolve is so exciting, its the beginning of WWE branching out with other companies which I hope will turn into something like New Japan is doing, pairing with companies around the world (ROH - US, RevPro - UK, CMLL - Mexico) B) This fucking tournament. THIS FUCKING TOURNAMENT. I cannot wait for this, it promises to be epic, I'm hoping they're willing to spend the money and not worry about other competition and go all out on this. I want Trevor Lee in this, I want Ricochet, I want Zack Sabre Jr, I want Marty Scurll, I want fucking Will Ospreay. They've already got Rich Swann in NXT, plus Biff Busick/Christopher Girard is probably in whatever the weight bracket is. Please WWE this could be the biggest thing ever.
- The Intercontinental Championship match for WrestleMania has been announced, and Zack Fucking Ryder (great promo there by the way), along with Stardust, Ziggler, Miz, Sin Cara and Zayn are also challenging. Though Zayn is going to be my first pick I want to win, Zack's up there.
- Looks like Luke Harper's injured. Fuck it.
- Only bloody Terry Funk popped up on RAW - FOREVER
Monday Night RAW
Best Match on Monday Night RAW (21/3/16): AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens
This was better than their encounter last week on SD!, but it still ended with fucking Jericho interfering. They went for near a half hour and it was all great. Like last week, we had even more development on previous encounters, with more countering sequences, at one point Kev just walking away from the Pele Kick. Another cool spot was when we saw Owens channel his inner Guerrero and did a goddamn frog splash. Beautiful. Oh god there was one point where Owens just lobbed AJ into the barricade and it was sick. Loads of big moves in this one too, it was real awesome.
NXT
Best Match on NXT (23/3/16): Asuka vs Emma
Its another match in this rivalry stemming all the way back from Asuka's debut last year. Like before, this was another good match. Asuka was on the back foot probably more than all her other matches on NXT. That doesn't mean Asuka didn't fuck up Emma, cuz she did. There seemed to be ever-changing momentum in this match-up, depicted excellently by this here. In both the backstage segment and out at ring side, Dana Brooke is great in her role as Emma's partner in wrestling crime. Good match for the main event this was.
Just wanna give a shout out to Rich Swann, who made his second TV appearance on this edition of NXT, facing the NXT Champion, Finn Balor. His entrance was awesome, his charisma is palpable and its just a shame he hasn't been given a big meaty match to show off in. That doesn't mean he's been awesome in his matches so far, just that they've been a tad one-sided and quick. Oh, and his theme is cool.
Thursday Night SmackDown!
Best Match on SD! (24/3/16): Sami Zayn & Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz & Kevin Owens
This match was similar to the previous match-up last week, Miz did most of the in-ring stuff for his team, Kev teased leaving, being stopped the second time by the other three men in the IC title match at 'Mania (Sin Cara, Ryder and Stardust). On top of that, Rough Ryder baby. Nothing particularly outstanding in this match, but it was the best on the card. Not a whole lot on SD! this week, the women (Charlotte vs Sasha Banks) had a pretty good match.
Heyman got pretty dark in his promo;
"Shooting from the hip, the only reason why Terry Funk and Mick Foley are still alive is because God hasn't answered my prayers"
The fuck, Paul?
Ring Of Honour TV
Best Match on ROH TV (19/3/16): The Young Bucks vs Michael Elgin & Hiroshi Tanahashi
The main event of the week's hour is best this time around. We had the usual tag team goodness of The Young Bucks which is always a treat. Elgin and Tanahashi teamed at the 14th Anniversary show so the focus on these two were individually, though we did see some double team manoeuvres here and there. Plus, cool shit like this happened. An enjoyable match here, crowd was all in, Bucks were good, Elgin was good, Tanahashi was good.
As always, ROH TV can be found free on their website: http://rohwrestling.com/tv/current
Ring Of Honour Conquest Tour - Philadelphia
Best Match on ROH Conquest Tour Philadelphia: The Young Bucks vs The Addiction vs The Motor City Machine Guns
Holy ma-sugar-tits. One of, if not the, top things that I love on ROH shows are the multi-team match-ups and this one stayed true to form. First off, the fucking Machine Guns are back, which is awesome straight up. The crowd was hot for this match, giving it that spectacle feel to it and there hardly being a silent moment. Then there was the in-ring stuff; champion. You have Addiction being the sole heels here and they stepped in when and where they needed to. The beginning of the match saw a lot of Addiction led slower pace, but when this kicked up they were far from being left behind. We saw Superkick Parties, crashes and burns, double teams, quadruple teams, and comedy - The Young Bucks were not accompanied by Kenny Omega, but rather his broom, named Kenny Broomega, which was decked out in Young Bucks merch and got involved in the match, pulling off a tope con hilo (it was chucked over the ropes). MCMG seemed to have never missed a beat, and from here they can surely only get better with them wrestling more together. The ending was great, the heels, The Addiction won but to avoid the boos singing out a phenomenal match, we had the two put their own twist on the Bucks' 'Meltzer Driver', using the 'Best Meltzer Ever' which made everyone happy. Loved this match, you know a match is good when you let out the 'oh mah goodness' exhale after the 3-count and sit back in your chair. More of this please, Ring of Honour.
The Verdict
Best Match of the Week: The Young Bucks vs The Addiction vs The Motor City Machine Guns - ROH Conquest Tour - Philadelphia
Like I said, gripping, entertaining, awesome. If you can find it, watch it. I use ppvdirect for most of my indy things. Look what happens when misused people decide to leave TNA - we get them pulling off epic shit like this.
- I mentioned Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay, so here's a match of there's
- Childhood nerdiness came out in buckets as Drago enters Lucha Underground's Aztec Warfare match looking like Blue-Eyes White Dragon
- This was on NXT and I have no fucking clue what it is
- Cole had another sit-down interview with Kevin Owens
- The voice of SmackDown!, Mauro Ranallo - what a guy - and Bas Rutten defend pro wrestling against some UFC/MMA guy I dunno but he sounds a bit douchey - it ends when fan questions start
