BWOTW: 31/5/16 - 4/6/16

Guess what guys? It's time for 'Noah's Best Wrestling of the Week'  AKA ''. Who'd have thought it, seeing as it is the usual upload time and you've either clicked a link or come to the site. Weird

Just a side note I wanted to include - I'M GONNA BE AT AN NXT TAPING! HOLY SHIT GUYS! I'm on holiday in Florida, couldn't get Cruiserweight Classic tickets, but got some for tapings the day before. General admission, so I'm either facing the stage or I'm opposite the hard camera on the tiered seats. EXCITING STUFF AAAHAHAHHAHA.

Better than FOX, here's the news...
  1. Fucking GOLDBERG is the WWE 2k17 preorder, crafty bastards certainly know how to get my money
  2. WhatCulture are starting their own promotion, WhatCulture Pro Wrestling (WCPW). It sounds like they mean business, it's a legit wrestling promotion, with weekly YouTube shows and they've even booked ROH World Champion Jay Lethal for their first two shows. Perhaps this becomes a blog regular?
  3. After all the controversy over it, mainly from Vader chatting shit, here's Ricochet vs Will Ospreay
  4. Good news everyone! New trailer for the second Scooby Doo!/WWE crossover!

And now for the beef in this wrestling blog lasagne, its the matches!

Award winning stuff on RAW
Monday Night RAW

Best Match on RAW (30/5/16): Cesaro, Dean Ambrose & Sami Zayn vs Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio & Kevin Owens

Honestly, this wasn't a great RAW for matches, it very much felt like a filler episode. But, the main event here was the best of the matches WWE had to offer. Started off pretty cool, Cesaro wrecked shop all over the opposing team, then things got a little slower when Zayn was tagged in and he was worked over some. Built up to the hot tag pretty well, this was the first time I hear 'Stupid Idiot' chats at Jericho which was nice I suppose. Big ending with everyone involved with finishers galore, Ambrose hits the DDT on Owens, pin. It was okay.
However, there was one truly awesome moment on RAW, and it was this;

Thursday Night SmackDown!

Best Match on SD! (2/6/16): AJ Styles vs Kofi Kingston

AJ's back to his Bullet Club ways, having realigned himself with Gallows and Anderson, he even did his cool double pistol hands pose on the ramp, plus there was plenty of 2Sweet-ing during the match too. Pretty back and forth in this one, with AJ slapping some piss out of Kofi, who later would rain down the Power of Positivity on the Georgian before tables would turn again. By the way, I love side-by-side kip-ups, these two know how to make me smile. Inevitably, there was some outside shenanigans towards the ending minutes, I'm not always a fan of this, but I have to admit even that was cool in this match. Big E belly-to-bellied Anderson on to the announce table, awesome, and Kofi whipped out a tope con on Gallows, shit was all over. This all would climax with a Styles Clash on Kingston, and a pinfall victory for The Phenomenal One. Here's hoping The Club keep this ass-kicking mantra going for the foreseeable future.

Oh, and before this, we got this slick as fuck moment.

NXT

Best Match on NXT (1/6/16): Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa vs The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson)

Tag team action on the blog here. Just a week before TakeOver: The End and their title rematch with American Alpha, The Revival picked a fight with Cruiserweight Classic competitors Ciampa and Gargano. Revival were back to their revivalry ways, targeting and focusing offence at the leg of Ciampa. Nice, long, working of it, teasing the Gargano hot tag inches away every time. So yeah, typical kind of Revival match, I look forward to Revival/Alpha II, plus with me not having an exam on the Thursday, I can stay up to watch it LIVE ON THE WWE NETWORK. Also, I feel like they might end the partnership and have Gargano vs Ciampa sometime in the tournament, with probably the latter turning heel on us. God I'm fucking hyped for this. It's not long now until the first taping - still not sure if they're gonna be live - I hope they announce the full list of those competing soon as I'm working on a guide to them all for all you lovely peeps. Good times.

Ring of Honour

Best Match on ROH TV: The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Elgin & Yoshi Tatsu
Honourable Mention: The entire episode - Lio Rush vs ACH & Roppongi Vice vs The Addiction vs The Motor City Machine Guns

Its taken a while but ROH are finally back on track with their TVs and website uploads! It's a real breath of fresh air I tell ya. This was a great episode and I strongly encourage you to look it up for FREE on rohwrestling.com/tv/current.
Looking towards the best match on the show now, it's The Elite taking on Tanahashi, Elgin and WWE alum, Yoshi Tatsu. Awesome stuff throughout, we had a big opening with the usual 'Suck Its' from the Bullet Club, leading up to them all being thrown out and Big Mike diving on allllllll the fuckers. The crowd were electric from start to end, typical of a Bullet Club match in ROH, there seems to be no end to their over-ness. Lots of comedy with the back-rakes, Matt Jackson's flips into a back rake tripled this time around, making the insult:injury ratio crank up to 300%. This is the first proper time seeing Yoshi since his return from his Styles Clash induced broken neck, he didn't have a whole lot to do in this match, he looked a bit clunky in parts, but did pull out some cool moves - he did this cool drop onto his knee, looked real cool, mate. Following a triple superkick and a One-Winged Angel from Omega, The Elite pick up the victory. Awesome match, awesome show.

SUPERKICK COUNT: 7

The Verdict

Best Match of the Week: The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Elgin & Yoshi Tatsu

Sweet shit, ROH's comeback to regular programming was amazing. Again, that web address to watch this and the rest of the pretty great episode is rohwrestling.com/tv/current. The NJPW/ROH crossover shows are some of the best since they started earlier this decade, and its lucky we get some of these taped and put on their weekly TV. I implore you to watch this, I understand that the video player on the website isn't exactly ideal, but if you give it time (plus I keep the quality kept on 'AUTO' for the best results), you will be rewarded for your patience. And with another week in the books, this is what the leaderboard looks like now, and I preach to you, keep watching and supporting pro wrestling. It's the fucking best.
