Just a quick heads up to all my British homeboys, WWE are coming to the UK in the next couple of week, including panels and 'workout experiences' whatever that means. Not only that but NXT are returning to our little island too! For a quick run down of places to be
WWE
- April 16th - Birmingham, also Dudleys Panel, Workout with New Day
- 17th - Leeds
- 18th - Nottingham
- 19th - Manchester
- 20th - Newcastle & Belfast
- 21st - Dublin
- 22nd - Sheffield
- 23rd - Glasgow, also Ric Flair & Charlotte panel, Workout with Usos
NXT
- June 10th-12th - Download Festival at Derby
- 13th - Belfast
- 14th - Dublin
- 15th - Liverpool
I went to NXT in Nottingham in the build up to TakeOver: London in December and it was fucking awesome, apart from the pissheads next to us, but it was still fucking awesome. If you can go to any, why not treat yourself/pester someone to buy you tickets? WWE Live events have been said to be better than TV tapings, with more/better matches, plus less commercials and talking segments and whatever. Link for tickets, but it's TicketMaster who can be right cunts with pricing so you might wanna go straight to the venue people for tickets
And now for a better version of Newsround;
- RAW after 'Mania happened and as usual it contained some big moments. We got the debuts of Apollo Crews and Enzo & Cass, Baron Corbin made his first appearance on RAW after winning the battle royal at WrestleMania and Cesaro returned from his shoulder injury. Also, on SmackDown!, we saw the Vaudevillains debut too. Welcome to you all.
- It has been reported that Bobby Roode has now properly signed with NXT. Can't fucking wait, pal.
Moving swiftly on to the apples of this blog crumble, the best matches of the week...
Monday Night RAW
Best Match on Monday Night RAW (4/4/16): Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho vs AJ Styles vs Cesaro - No.1 Contender's Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
It's post-Mania RAW, everyone's either pleased or fucked off by the previous night and they've got something to say, and they all seemed to say 'Fuck Roman'. This match was intended to be Zayn in for Cesaro, but KO took him out backstage so the Swiss Superman was put in instead. By the by, I think Cesaro is the new James Bond.
Don't go fucking us around WWE, AJ better not lose clean.
Thursday Night SmackDown!
Best Match on SD! (7/4/16): Zack Ryder vs The Miz - WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Now, I was fucking livid when Zack lost his title on RAW and I wanted him to batter Miz like he was cod. Originally, I was going to give the 'Match of the Night' to the main event - Cesaro & Styles vs Owens & Jericho - because the idea Zack being discarded for a fucking Miz title reign shat on my chips, but thinking back now, this match was actually quite cool. We had Ryder properly showing his frustration, more brawling and taking it to the outside. Maryse, I'm not too fussed she's back but here she is helping Miz to be even more of an annoying prick. There was one bit I really liked, Miz moved to avoid a Broski Boot so later on Ryder hit it when he was sat against the guard rail, lovely and inventive. Ultimately, Miz retained, which I felt was inevitable because its on SmackDown! I was very worried Zack was gone from the title picture right away, but after seeing the video below, I'm more hopeful that like Limp Bizkit, Ryder on RAW will keep on rollin' baby.
NXT
Best Match on NXT (6/4/16): Apollo Crews vs Elias Samson
Another match to win by default, being the only match on the programme. Most of it was TakeOver: Dallas highlights and interviews. This match was pretty good. Samson dominated quite a bit, using stuff I hadn't really seen before, maintaining a headlock despite Apollo flipping him over and stuff. Apollo dragging him out of the ring through the ropes by his arm was pretty cool too. It was a good job this wasn't on the main show (it was taped before TakeOver), because it would've been outshone greatly by the matches on that card. Even so, it was pretty good.
Ring Of Honour
Best Match on ROH TV (2/4/16): Adam Cole vs KUSHIDA
It was a rather good contest between Adam Cole (baybay!) and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, KUSHIDA, on this week's edition of Ring Of Honour TV. A lot of back and forth here, both performing really well. I'm liking KUSHIDA's single run since breaking away from Time Splitters, also allowing for Alex Shelley to reform the Motor City Machine Guns which I'm all for. As always, ROH TV is free at http://rohwrestling.com/tv/current
EVOLVE
Best Match on EVOLVE 58: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Will Ospreay
Making its BWOTW debut, its WWE partnership haver, EVOLVE! And bloody fuck what a way to show up. This event took place at 'Mania weekend, next door to Axxess 'n'all.
ZSJ is a magnificent wrestler and I am fucking hyped for this Crusierweight Tournament. His opponent, in my eyes, is the equally talented Will Ospreay, who I pray is also included in the competition. Every hold Sabre Jr applies looks hella painful, muscle stretching, joint torquing and bone breaking. Ospreay can make every man, lizard person, woman and child go 'Holy fuck!'. In my opinion, he's the best high flyer there is. I loved this match, start to finish it had my attention by the throat and shaking in its boots. Beautiful, beautiful match.
Just want to give a shout out to possibly the best wrestling nickname ever that was on this show; 'Hot Sauce' Tracy Williams
The Verdict
Best Match of the Week: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Will Ospreay
I've literally just said it. Incredible stuff, Zack always surprises me with all his holds and submissions, Will screaming 'JESUS CHRIST' just makes them look even cooler. Ospreay, fuckin' Ospreay man, flips, kicks, flips. He's the 'Aerial Assassin' for a reason.
Before I saw that EVOLVE 38 was on demand, I was going to pick the RAW match as the best of the week, so keep that in mind if you're looking for stuff to watch.
Other Goodies
Nowt really this week so here's Steve Blackman
